課程概述

Course Description
This course aims to introduce graduate students to the writing of academic journal papers so as to enable them to communicate effectively their research to a diverse audience. This course starts with considerations of academic writing features with especial attention to style, organization, and coherence, then moves towards essential writing components that lay the foundation for research paper writing, and culminates in sectional developments and features of research papers published in academic journals. Along with lectures and discussions, in-class writing exercises, post-class writing and reading tasks, and take-home assignments will be given to students to deepen their understanding of the course content. Classroom activity is designed to facilitate both individual and collaborative learning of students.

CILO 2: Recognizing the moves and steps in constructing research papers
CILO 3: Organizing their ideas into a unified and coherent text

CILO 5: Developing proof-reading and self-editing skills
CILO 6: Making effective written presentations of their work

課程要求
Course Requirements
1. Students should attend all classes (physical and online if occasions arise).
2. Students should actively participate in classroom activity.
3. Students should complete take-home and in-class writing assignments.
4. Students should take three evaluation tests.
